Footballamericain.com: David, first of all, I would like to warmly thank you for taking time to answer our questions. The French football fans will be delighted to have the opportunity to better know you before the coming Draft. Can you say a few words about the way you are going to prepare the NFL combine?

David Amerson: Thanks for having me.  I’ve been training since January down in Florida.  I’m really preparing for the mental part of my game as well as getting in the best shape possible.

Footballamericain.com: You have spent 3 years at the University of North Carolina State. Tell us more about your college journey. What are your best memories and achievements here?

David Amerson: My best memories were the home games at State.  We have the best fans and it’s a great atmosphere to play in.  My most memorable achievements were setting the interceptionInterception

record and being named a 1st team All-American.  I’m also very proud of receiving the Jack Tatum Trophy in 2011.

Footballamericain.com: From a more personal perspective, what did you learn from yourself after these 3 years at NC State?

David Amerson: I think the biggest thing I learned was time management.  It’s tough to be a student athlete and I was able to learn how to manage the situation while maximizing performance on the field and in the classroom.

Footballamericain.com: You have decided to leave the university as a Junior. What was the main driver for this decision not to return as a Senior?

David Amerson: I have dreamed of becoming a professional athlete since I was a kid.  I took all the steps to perfect my craft and work hard to play football at the highest level.  This junior season the opportunity to do that presented itself and I feel that it is my time to further my career at the next level.

Footballamericain.com: Your sophomore season in 2011 has been amazing as you set an ACC record with 13 interceptions. But this year where you were highly expected has been a little bit difficult for you defensively, your team finishing only with a 7-6. How do you explain this?

David Amerson:  I believe that we lacked consistency last season.  In the competitive arena of Division I football it is all about consistency and can be the difference in a win or a hard fought loss.  This year we just came up a little bit short in how consistent we were in each game.

Footballamericain.com: You have lost versus Vanderbilt in the Music City Bowl. Can you say a few words about this game?

David Amerson: This is one of the games we should not have lost.  Again, it comes up to how consistent we were as a team and unfortunately we beat ourselves in the Music City Bowl.

Footballamericain.com: The ACC being one of the most competitive conferences in Football, who is the best player that you have faced during your college football career?

David Amerson:  I think the two best that I played against were Dwayne Harris and Tyrod Taylor.  Both guys are continuing their careers at the next level.

Footballamericain.com: Based on your own experience, what is the loudest and most feared road game stadium you have played in?

David Amerson:  Clemson, that’s a tough place to play.  It can’t beat State though, we have the best home crowd out there.

Footballamericain.com: You are considered as a highly aggressive defender but how would you qualify your game? What are your main strengths and weaknesses?

David Amerson:  My main strengths are my ball skills, ball hawking ability, and my aggressiveness when the ball is in the air.  I would say that my weakness is that sometimes I may be overly aggressive during the play.

Footballamericain.com: According to you where would be the main differences between the NFL and the NCAA in terms of Football and where should you focus to be able to adjust your game to these new standards.

David Amerson: I think the main differences would be the speed of the game and the overall competitiveness.  All the guys in the league next year are playing at the highest level because the can all play.  To prepare for this I will really have to constantly study film and the playbook.  I take this seriously and want to make sure that I involve myself 100% in the playbook and film so that I can continue to grow as a player and maximize my awareness on the field.

Footballamericain.com: What NFL player do you think you compare favorably to?

David Amerson: I compare myself to Cromartie.  We have a similar style and are very similar in speed and size.

Footballamericain.com: Regarding the coming draft, what are your expectations? The experts are seeing you being drafted in the between the second and the third round. Is it a target for you?

David Amerson: I would like to think that I would go in the 1st round.  I believe my accolades in college, my skill set, and performance at the combine have proven that I am worth taking in the first round and will translate to what I can bring to a team at the next level.

Footballamericain.com: You are a North Carolina native. Any NFL team you will prefer to play for?

David Amerson:  I am just excited to have the opportunity to play in the NFL.

Footballamericain.com: As a CB, what is your favorite moment on a Football field?

David Amerson:  I love making an interception, but there is no better feeling than a pick sixPick six

.

Footballamericain.com: When you get your first professional paycheck what is the first thing you will buy?

David Amerson: I will be looking to put a roof over my head and some good food in my stomach.

Footballamericain.com: What would be you plan after a long NFL career?

David Amerson: After my career I would like to sit back and enjoy life.  I would like to look back and know that I maximized every bit of my potential and taken advantage of every opportunity that football has given me.

Footballamericain.com: Tell us about your hobbies when you are off the field?

David Amerson: I’m a huge fan of video games.  Some of my favorites are Call of Duty, Madden, and NBA 2K.

Footballamericain.com: A question for the French public: If I told you “France”, what comes to your mind?

David Amerson:  I’m a fan of the French women and their charming accents.

Footballamericain.com: Football is developing progressively in France and our Elite championship is attracting more and more ex NCAA DIV I players. What do you think of this trend?

David Amerson: I think it is great for the game of football.  It’s a great sport and should be played everywhere.  The atmosphere of a competitive football game is something that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

Footballamericain.com: Thanks a lot for your time and wish you all the best for the coming draft. Any mean to follow you through the internet.

David Amerson:  Thank you, we need to do this again soon, I appreciate the opportunity.  People can follow me on twitter @DavidAmerson1 and I will be getting a fan site up and running in the near future so stay posted.
